Dr. John John Pajka graduated with honors from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. He continued on there to complete residency his Ophthalmology. He has been in private practice in Lima Ohio since 1990, specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. He has served as Medical Director of the Eye Surgery Center of Western Ohio since 1998. He is an adjunct professor with the Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Pajka has had a career long passion for international ophthalmology, leading or participating in over 50 international outreaches. These trips have involved organizing teams of doctors and nurses, working with local surgeons and staff to provide free cataract surgery to blind underserved people in the developing world, as well as sharing surgical techniques with local surgeons. Dr. Pajka has been fortunate to have performed surgeries in many places, including Nicaragua, Haiti, Bolivia, Peru, Jamaica, Uzbekistan, Guatemala, and Uganda.
Dr. Pajka also has worked as a volunteer phacoemulsification cataract surgery trainer with the Himalayan Cataract Project in Accra and Kumasi, Ghana at the Korle Bu and KATH teaching hospitals, helping to raise the level of quality cataract surgery.
In addition, Dr. Pajka also works with Ohio State University ophthalmology residents, and has taken a number with him on international outreaches to offer exposure and awareness to the global need for elimination of blindness from cataracts. Dr. Pajka and his wife Linda enjoy traveling, backpacking, and hiking.
