James got his start in technology and computer programming while studying at Brigham Young University. He earned a masters degree in Information Systems from BYU’s Marriott School of Business and then moved to California to start his career as a software engineer. He is always looking for ways to use technology to serve others and build a better world.

While serving as a volunteer missionary for his church, James temporarily lost vision in his right eye from a condition known as iritis. That experience of losing and regaining eyesight is what connects him on a personal level to the mission of the Daybreak Vision Project.
