Edinam is a specialist ophthalmologist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. She also co-leads Daybreak’s research projects to enhance ophthalmic education and training and further refine eye care service delivery.
Edinam Hutton-Mensah, MD is a specialist ophthalmologist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,
Ghana with interest in cataract and glaucoma. She obtained her BSc. Human Biology and
MBChB degrees from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She holds
Membership in Ophthalmology of both the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons and the
West African College of Surgeons. She’s also completed a Short Term Fellowship in Glaucoma at
the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in Nepal and is going on to start a full fellowship in
Glaucoma. Additionally, she holds a certificate in Occupational Health and Therapy from the
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
She had been a member of the interim inaugural executive committee of the Ophthalmological
Society of Ghana’s Young Ophthalmologists’ Forum and at present is a member of its executive
committee.
Edinam has been involved in outreach cataract surgery in under-served areas in Ghana. She’s
enthralled by the signal of hope that lights up on the faces of post-operative cataract patients
the morning after their sight restoring surgeries. Being a beneficiary (herself) of Daybreak’s
Resident Surgical Training Initiative, she’s excited to co-lead Daybreak’s research projects to
enhance ophthalmic education and training and further refine eye care service delivery.
