Dr. D. Bradley Welling is the Walter Augustus Lecompte Professor of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery in the Harvard College of Medicine and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Massachusetts General Hospital. 


Dr. Welling received his M.D. from the University of Utah, his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa, and fellowship in Otology, Neurotology, and Cranial Base Surgery at the EAR Foundation in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed a Ph.D. in pathobiology at The Ohio State University. 
 
Dr. Welling’s clinical practice focuses on the surgical treatment of cranial base tumors and on hearing preservation and restoration. He has a long-standing interest in finding better treatments for hearing loss and conditions affecting human communication.  He has conducted multiple clinical trials intent on finding better treatment options. He has published over150 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 35 chapters.
 
Dr. Welling is a senior advisor to the Board of Directors of the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and the Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).  He has served as President the American Otologic Society, the American Neurotologic Society and is currently President of the US group of the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum (CORLAS), an international research organization. He serves as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology.  He consults for several biotech companies.
 
Dr. Welling has taken an active role in his church, and serves as the Chair of the Medical Committee on the Board of Directors for Boys Town National Research Hospital.  Most importantly, Dr. Welling and his wife, Susan, are the proud parents of seven terrific children and 21 perfect grandchildren.  He is grateful to join the board of Daybreak Vision Project and associate with such wonderful colleagues in a tremendous labor of love.
