Dr. Andrew Stacey is an eye cancer specialist, also known as an ocular oncologist. He runs the ocular oncology unit at the University of Washington and at Seattle Children's Hospital in Seattle, Washington, USA. He takes care of adults and children with eye cancers such as retinoblastoma, melanoma, and lymphoma.
Dr. Stacey completed his medical school at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He continued his training as an ophthalmology resident at the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He finished his training in London, England at Moorfields Eye Hospital.where he completed a fellowship in ocular oncology and retinoblastoma.
Dr. Stacey is currently a faculty member in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Washington (UW) and holds adjunct professorships in the Department of Radiation Oncology as well as the Department of Global health at UW. His clinical practice covers a wide geographic region in the Northwestern United States and Alaska. His research interests are focused on global eye cancer, specifically improving retinoblastoma outcomes in low and middle-income countries. He has been part of the creation of an international network of retinoblastoma treatment centers from more than 150 countries. This network has demonstrated for the first time the dire situation for children with retinoblastoma in low and middle income countries. In addition to his clinical research in retinoblastoma, he is a moderator for the Retinoblastoma Network, an international consortium of retinoblastoma treatment centers run through the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Stacey regularly participates in and moderates these virtual case conferences where retinoblastoma centers in low and middle-income countries bring treatment dilemmas and clinical questions to a panel of international experts.
