Adam Schanz credits his parents for teaching him and his seven siblings principles of hard work and service to others.  These principles of servant leadership have laid the foundation for Adam's business ventures, humanitarian work, and family life.

At the age of 19, Adam served a two-year mission for his Church in South Africa and quickly came to love living among and serving the people of Africa.  After returning home, he married his college sweetheart and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from BYU‐Idaho.

After working in finance for Merrill Lynch, Adam went on to found his own home security company, Alder Security in 2011.  Since then, Alder has become one of the ten largest privately-held security companies in the world.

Subsequently, Adam launched Cove Smart, an innovative and award-winning DIY alarm company that has, in a few short years, attracted over 100,000 customers and become the industry leader in its field.   He also founded Luna, which has pioneered a state-of-the-art home alarm panel and a variety of other industry-leading security equipment products.  Adam also launched Pando, an enterprise software company which has developed an innovative video verification platform with broad application across a variety of industries.

Since 2018, Adam and his employees have partnered with his life-long friend and former mission companion Dr John Welling to support hundreds of sight-restoring cataract surgeries in Ghana, West Africa, in partnership with Ghana Health Services, the Himalayan Cataract Project, Latter-Day Saint Charities, and local Ghanaian surgeon teams.

For Adam, the founding of the Daybreak Vision Project represents the fruition of a long-held desire to make a significant impact for good in a place and among a people whom he loves.  In his free time, Adam enjoys coaching youth baseball, CrossFit, and throwing barbecues with family and friends.
